Upcuming Run Misdirections

Male Hashers Only Run Event:

Seoul Brothers,

This Saturday we will have another great trail to commemorate the tragic destruction of the Spanish Armada in 1588. Dodic is trying to up his kill count so he may be attempting a hash with similar results. Fair warning!

Hash # 2049.2
Time: 1600 31 JUL 2010
Location: Hyatt Hotel
Hare: EM Dodic Master
Apres Trail: Bless U

D' Erections
please make your way to the Hyatt Hotel atop the hill in Itaewon by 4 PM on Saturday 12 July 2010!  Once you are at the Hyatt, meet at the little Gazebo.

Ways to get to the Hyatt...oh let me count the ways....
1 - By Taxi - Get in cab, say "Hyatt."
2 - For tunnel rats the directions are as follows:

2a - From Itaewon Station:
Start at Exit #2 and walk East (Hamilton Hotel On your LEFT) about 115 meters to the intersection.  Turn Left and head up the winding road.  Continue to curve around to the right as you pass the "Alt Swiss Chalet" on your right.  At the next 4-way intersection turn LEFT to continue up the hill.  When the road meets a "T" intersection follow the road to the right.  At the next "T" intersection, turn Left and continue going UPHILL.  However, at the top of the hill (the third "T" intersection if anyone's counting) take a RIGHT and follow the ridge road along the long wall to your right.  You will pass a convenience store and a little dog store on your left...  ALMOST THERE...  As you approach a very wide and uncontrolled intersection, note the Green Buses in front of you and the wooden Gazebo just past the main entrance to the Hyatt hotel.  Head PAST the little Gazebo and take the walking bridge over the road to the traditional ONON Site.

2b - If you HAVE to ride the subway...If you just CAN'T resist the urge to go underground:
Got on the Subway from Itaewon Station and head towards Hangangjin Station.  Get off at Hangangjin station and come up Exit # 1.  As soon as you come up to the street, walk straight across the street in front of you and in 160 Meters you will notice a nice set of wooden stairs to your right....head up them.  After you get up the first set of stairs, you will be on a nice path...  In about 20 Meters, you will see that the path continues straight and there are stairs heading up to your RIGHT.  Go up the stairs.  this will put you on a very nice little trail that you will take all the way up the the main road ringing the Nam San Mountain (Yes, I know that is redundant as "San" MEANS "Mountain", I just think "The Nam San" sounds stupid.)  Anyway, when you reach the road, turn LEFT and head uphill for about 76 Meters and take the stairs up to your LEFT.  At the top of aid stairs, note the Gazebo in front of you.  this is NOT IT.  Turn around and just across the bridge is the ONON Site.

3 - For those who feel their manhood is judged by the amount of fossil fuel used:
3a - From Itaewon Station area heading EAST (Hamilton Hotel on your LEFT).  Drive past the Hamilton Hotel and turn Left at the next light and head up the winding road. Don't park there as there are rumors you will get ticketed.  Park in the Hyatt Parking lot or find some other side street to ditch your car.

3b - From the Gate THREE and Noksapyong area, head towards the Namsan 2-3 tunnel area.  At the intersection at the bottom of the hill turn RIGHT.  Head up the steep hill.  All the way up. As you approach top of the hill and an uncontrolled intersection, note the Green Buses in front of you and the wooden Gazebo just past the main entrance to the Hyatt hotel.  Don't park there as there are rumors you will get ticketed.  Park in the Hyatt Parking lot or find some other side street to ditch your car.

ON-ON!

Mr. Blister

Followed by an On-On-On Session at BlessU pub:

To get there, leave Itaewon station via exit no.#1 and walk along the street until the fourth
lane on your right. You will see the black & white sign, Dolce Vita, on the second floor.
Walk up the lane about ten meters and Bless U is on your left, second floor.

SEOUL HASH #2049.1 (yes we are getting close the the Nth run but are not there yet!)
24 JULY 2010
Time: 4PM (1600)
Hare: ___ (Blank Space, esq) and Mr Blister (yes, me again)
Apres trail: Bless-U pub

Another fun filled weekend (or Saturday at least, I'm sure some of your wives/girlfriends/domestic partners drag you out for quality time on Sunday). We will be meeting in Hyochong park near the terrorist/freedom fighter/grenade thrower statue. We will be celebrating both the anniversary of the nuclear test on Bikini Island as well as what is sure to be a memorable trail.

Mis-Directions are as follows:

For those riding the rails (or without Bongo conveyance):
Get on the subway (Preferable the brown line, line 6) and go to Hyochang Park station.  Come up for air at Exit #1.  Once you exit, follow trail to the north. We will meet near the statue of Lee Bong-chang as he attempted to kill an oppressor or commit a terrorist act, depending on your point of view...

Driving:
Ride your chariot East past the Yankee army base, passing the war memorial (it should be on your right, if not turn around and go the other way). Keep on the same road through the intersection near Samgakji  station (the road will turn slightly to the right). Cross over the train tracks and keep going. At the 2nd major intersection after crossing the train tracks (roughly 1 km), turn your horses to the right and go north towards Hyochang park. Tie your horses at either of the parking lots in front of the soccer stadium.

If you get lost or want to bitch at someone call me (Mister Blister) at 010-8437-7717, but have realistic expectations about how much I will be willing/able to help.

On-On!

Mr. Blister

---------

Clear your calendar, get your kids a babysitter (or just turn on the TV, that's what everybody else is doing anyways), because this weekend we will be celebrating Cecil Rhodes becoming the premier of Cape colony in 1890. I have been informed that Several of the EM's remember this fondly and will no doubt describe the entire event to us in great detail.

SEOUL HASH #2049.0
17 JULY 2010
Time: 4PM (1600)
Hare: Mr Blister (yes, its me again, somebody else needs to freek'in step up)
Apres trail: Bless-U pub

Mis-Directions are as follows:

For those riding the rails (or without Bongo conveyance):
Get on the subway (Preferable at Samgakji station 429) and head towards Sadang Station and get off at Namtaeryeong station (434).  Come up for air at Exit #2.  Once you exit, you should be walking UPHILL on the LEFT Side of the street.  Once you get over the hill (no offence to the EM's) and are passing the crosswalk, about 100M down on your LEFT will be the aforementioned dirt turn off and "pagoda."  You are there.

Driving:
Point your 2/4/6- or 18-wheeled oil guzzling war propagation machine South from the Yongsan Army base over the Dongjak bridge.  (Note, that's the one between Banpo and Han River go go out Gate 17 if you can and turn left.  If you just HAPPEN to be coming out of the ePyongSangSa apartments, take a RIGHT onto the HanGang-Ro, take the 45 degree RIGHT towards Yongsan station, follow the road around counterclockwise until you cross said HanGang-Ro onto Sobbingo-Ro.  As you pass Gate 17 on your LEFT and Ichon Station on your RIGHT get in the right lane to get onto the Dongjak Bridge...just sayin') Near the end of the bridge, get in the center or right lane.  The road will curve left as you exit the bridge.  At this point get in the far right to turn right towards Sadang Station at the next intersection.  Continue straight until you pass Sadang Station (~3Km)  Head on straight up the hill past Namtaeryeong station and laugh at all the walkers.  Once over the hill, get in the right lanes. (Careful of the cameras in the far right lane - Weave) As you approach the bottom of the hill, stay right and take the exit uphill, as you do not want to go through the underpass tunnel thingy.  At the top of the exit ramp thingy, make a U Turn and head right back up the hill you just came down.  In 1KM, or about 100M from the top, there will be a dirt turn off to the right and a "pagoda" looking wooden tower.  This is the Start point.... oh, yeah.. you're driving...TURN RIGHT and park!

For those Walking (really):
Start heading south from Samgakji station.  continue over the Han river Bridge passing DODIC's Island of death.  At the end of the bridge, take a left and head towards the National Cemetery (you'll see signs) and continue walking straight for 1.50 KM.  Cross the street you are walking along by taking the THIRD walkover bridge you come to and continue walking in the same direction you were...just on the other side of the street.  Walk straight for another  Klick or so until you get to the retarded intersection where cars are driving in every which direction.  (This is he end of the Dongjak Bridge).  Continue around the corner on foot and pass the large Skycrappers to your left.  Go up the little road hill thing and then...you guessed it...keep walking straight.  You will come to a walkover crosswalk and I would suggest you take it.  Your choice.  Once you cross, continue walking in the same direction you WERE walking along the same street you WERE walking along.  In 0.4KM you will pass ISU (Chongshin Univ. Station)... keep it up.. you're getting closer.  At 1.5 KM, you will pass by Sadang Station... navigate carefully straight across this intersection under the overpass and all and start up the hill.  at about 2.9KM you will pass Namteryoung Station so I would at this point say Beer Near. (Well more appropriately(Run Near).  As you crest the hill and pass by the Crosswalk, in about 100 meters on your left will be a wooden tower and the ONON Site.  Congratulations, you are a masochist.... but ONON.

If you get lost or want ot bitch at someone about the hill call me (Mister Blister) at 010-8437-7717, but expect no mercy or any real help.

OR....Try these directions:

Take line #4, the blue line, south from any station north of the Han River and go to Namtaeryeong Station, station #434, and take the south eastern exit from the station (Exit 2).  When you reach ground level, notice that there is a major road leading up a hillside.  Follow the sidewalk next to this road uphill for about a quarter mile, and then as you reach the crest of the hill, notice that about 150 yards below the crest, you will see the dirt track on your left.  Turn in here to the on-on site.

Run # 2048
Time: 1600
Date: 10 JULY
Location: World Cup Stadium
Hare: Ultraman
Aprez Trail: Bless U

The directions by car: (don't worry about a fuel shortage, we now have plenty of oil cumming to America's shores)

From Samgakji intersection head south towards the Han River , but do not cross the river.  Instead, just before the Han River Bridge , turn right, and head west on the Riverside Expressway and in about 8 or 9 klicks notice that you are passing by the Seongsan Bridge .  Stay awake, because you need to turn right off the expressway about 1.5 km past the Seongsan Bridge where you will see a sign in English and Korean that says ‘World Cup Stadium’.  Take the right indicated by the sign, and follow that exit to the Stadium area.  Park in one of the parking lots near the stadium, and walk over to the area by the stadium where the subway exits are located and pick up the hare’s trail to the on-on site from there.

By subway: Take a #6 line train from Samgakji station heading west, towards Hyochang Park and Gongdeok and keep going all the way to World Cup Stadium station, station #619.  Alight there, and take the northwestern exit, and head up the long escalator to the street level, where the hare will have marked the trail to the on-on site under the bridge overpass that crosses the stream behind the stadium.  The ride from Samgakji takes about 20 minutes.

(Im not quibblling, but I would argue that it is the NORTH Exit, In fact, taking into count the 7 degree 51 minute Western declination in Seoul, it woud be closer to a NORTH EASTERLY exit if you were using a compass, but more usefully, it is EXIT #3.   Just sayin'....ONON, Timber)

ON-ON

---------------

Time: 1600 25 June 2010
Location:
Hwarangdae station, line 6, exit 5
Hare: Mr Blister
Apres Trail: Bless U

For you Green Peacers:

Get to the Itaewon Station.  Take the number 6 Line going towards Yaksu. Stay on it until the second to last stop; Hwarandae Station. Go out exit #5, turn around and walk 10m. Go down the stairs and under the bridge to the floodplain of an On-On site.

For those addicted to Texas T, Black Gold, Oil that is:

From The War Memorial near the Yankee Army Base, head South towards the Han Gang Bridge from the Samgakji intersection.  Zero your Odometer there (at the Samgakji intersection that is...as you travel straight through or turn south).  At 1.8KM, get right and immediately after you pass under the overpass, take the entrance ramp towards HWY 70 East.

(NOTE: this will swing you back over an overpass and at the end of the overpass (at the light) follow the road 45 degrees Right onto HWY 70.)

 Speed up!

As you pass under the 3rd bridge, zero your odometer again.

(NOTE: This is the Hannam Bridge .)

You will pass over the little river pouring into the HAN at 2KM and you want to get right and follow the right exit towards HWY 61 North at 2.4KM, ensuring that you do not hit the swerving motorcyclists or Bongo trucks.

Follow HWY 61 north towards Uijeonbu. (Dont worry, you’re not going that far)

At 12 KM, start getting into the right lanes and look for an off ramp.

At 13.5KM, take the off ramp and follow the road until you pass under the elevated highway (This is HWY30 or the NAMBU Expressway).

You will come to a large road at 14.4KM.  Turn right on the large road towards Taereung Station and Hwarangdae Station (Seoul Women’s University )

At 15.5KM take the right towards Bonghwasan Station and immediately look for parking on the left.

(NOTE: There is a large elevated highway to your right...if it turns away from you to the right, then you probably are there.)

This intersection is Hwarangdae Station, find Exit 5 and follow hash!
(NOTE: if you end up at the entrance to the Korean Military Academy, turn around and at the second intersection, turn LEFT now ... then look for parking on your left)

This week we will share toast to former SHHH Grand Master (1977) THE WOLF; Wolfgang Gust. The Wolf started his Hashing career here in Seoul in 1972 when he was out for a walk with his dog and ran into a pack of expats on sent of the hare.

The Wolf entered the trail eternal on 18 April 2010 while on trail with his beloved Frankfurt Hash. Please come out and raise one last toast for the Wolf Seoul style.

RIP WOLF,

- GM Victoria's Secret

Time: 1600 hours, 19 June 2010
Location: Dongnimmun Park (Not the shopping area by another close name; an earlier roaanization of the place name was once "Dog Rib Moon," which would have been appropriate!)
Hare: White Trash
Apres Trail: Bless U.

Once again put everything on hold this Saturday (except for the HASH) and head for Dongnimmun Park for an on-time start at 4p.m

By motorized chariot or pedicab, rikshaw, etc: Proceed past the Yankee Army base heading west, and then turn right at Samgakji intersection. Continue straight, heading towards Seoul Station.  As you approach the Seoul Station area, make sure that your chariot is in one of the left lanes so that you can turn left at the major intersection opposite Seoul Station where the traffic in the right hand lanes must head towards the burnt offering to Korean protests known as Namdaemoon.  Do NOT head right towards Namdaemoon but instead turn left at that main intersection and stay left so that you can enter the tunnel just ahead and when you exit the tunnel continue straight for just two (2) kms.  You are now on what the Yankee Army lads refer to as MSR 1.

Note that point about 2 kms from Seoul Station when you approach the intersection where  the elevated highway becomes highly visible and you can also see the Independence Gate park area on your left, and having noted that landmark, turn left at that intersection, under the bridge.  This is also known as the Dongnimmun station intersection and you can find parking below the bridge in the area near the Park.  Climb out of your conveyance, and walk over to the #4 entrance/exit to Dongnimmun station, station #326 on Line #3, and look for markings to the on-on site that Victoria's Secret swears will exist and which will guide you to the on-on without any problem whatsoever.

By subway: Purchase your ticket and head through the wicket and on your way onto line #3 line and ride to Dongnimmun station (station #326) and exit from the #4 exit.  Then just follow the markings.

38 years ago on  11 June 1972 a half a mind by the name of Ian Young from the Hong Kong H3 by way of the UK, and group of like minded assholes formed the Seoul Hash House Harriers. This week we will head back to Ground Zero to commemorate 38 years of hashing south of the 38th parallel.

* Note: Deep Throat, perhaps the most famous pornographic film of all time, made its debut, at the World Theatre in Manhattan on 11 June 1972…Coincidence I think NOT. *

Along with the Ground Zero it has been rumored that Price Water Closet has tabulated the votes for the next Grand Master, therefore we should have another peaceful transfer of power, and pending GM OB-1 does not initiate a 12.12 style military insurrection.

Following the trail and fire we will have a men’s only dinner at a local Galbi jip near Namsan tunnel and Itaewon. The dress will be Hash semi formal.

please make your way to the Hyatt Hotel atop the hill in Itaewon by 4 PM on Saturday 12 July 2010!  Once you are at tle Hyatt, head PAST the little Gazebo and take the walking bridge over the road to the traditional ONON Site.

FOLLOWING THE TRAIL we will move down the the Haebongchon area to celebrate with a dinner and more beer!

When the road meets a "T" intersection tfollow the road to the right.  At the next "T" intersection, turn Left and continue going UPHILL.  However, at the top of the hill (the third "T" intersection if anyone's counting) take a RIGHT and follow the ridge road along the long wall to your right.  You will pass a convienience store and a little dog store on your left...  ALMOST THERE...  As you aproach a very wide and uncontrolled intersection, note the Green Buses in front of you and the wooden Gazebo just past the main entrance to the Hyatt hotel.  Head PAST the little Gazebo and take the walking bridge over the road to the traditional ONON Site.

2b - If you HAVE to ride the subway...If you just CAN"T resist the urge to go underground:

Got on the Subway from Itaewon Station and head towards Hangangjin Station.  Get off at Hangangjin station and come up Exit # 1.  As soon as you come up to the street, walk straight across the street in front of you and in 160 Meters you will notice a nice set of wooden stairsto your right....head up them.

Continue to curve around to the right as you pass the "Alt Swiss Chalet" on your right.  At the next 4-way intersection turn LEFT to continue up the hill.

As you aproach top of the hill and an uncontrolled intersection, note the Green Buses in front of you and the wooden Gazebo just past the main entrance to the Hyatt hotel.  Don't park there as there are rumors you will get ticketed.  Park in the Hyatt Parking lot or find some other side street to ditch your car.

If you have read this far, I assume you get the point that you need to get there for this glorious event

The last splash has cum for COL FA DUCK (RET) he is going ONON to the Motor City to work for Gov Motors, leaving behind throngs defective GM Daewoo cars in his wake. COL FA DUCK has been a great fair-weather hasher and an even better haberdasher for Seoul Hash, so let's send him off right with a great trail and a first round at the pub on him.

Time 1600 5 June 2010
Location: Behind the Blue House (see below)
HARE: COL FA DUCK (RET)
Apres Trail: Bless U

By Car/Taxi:

Driving north past the U.S. Embassy, turn left at the Gwanghwamun gate and zero your odometer.  Go through the first set of lights and prepare to turn right at the second (0.5 kms), signed for the Jahamun Tunnel.  At 1.4 kms, turn right for “Hyoja Jct.” (Junction).  Do not enter the tunnel.  Pass the Blue House guards on your right and bear left, following the road up the side of the hill.  Near the top, note a dead police captain’s statue on the right, and pass under the Skyway bridge at 2.7 kms.

Take the first right at the traffic light, and then almost immediately bear left down onto a narrow road passing some shops – do not take the main road that leads to the Bugak Skyway, but take the left-hand spur that initially parallels the main road but then twists its away from the larger road that rises above it.  When on the small road, veer to the right.  Note signs for the CCC (Corea Crusade for Corruption?).  Stay on this road, just below the Skyway, as it winds along the side of the hill, passing the CCC on the left at 3 kms.  Continue as it bends around to the left and uphill.  At the top (3.7 kms), park near the hairpin right turn and the entrance to Chunghyo-sa.

By Public Transport:

The Hares have seen buses Jongno 10, 0212, 7018 and 1020 at the top, but sometimes the same buses go through the tunnel instead..  We hope you get lucky.  If not, get off after the tunnel and walk back up the hill.

These buses (Jongno 10, 0212, 7018 and 1020 ) can probably be boarded at the bus stop near the Yankee Embassy in Gwanghwamun, exit 3, in front of the Kyobo Bldg.  The important point is to get off at the Jahamun Gogae (Ridge) bus stop.    The bus stop is just short of the summit or ridge of the hill, and before a stone bridge overpass.  With luck, the hares may even chalk arrows from the bus stop to the run site.  You can certainly snag a taxi at Gwanghwamun in front of the Kyobo Insurance bldg. and remember that lines #2 and #5 take you either very close to in the former case (City Hall Station) or right to Gwanghwamun station in the latter case.  The cab fare to the on-on site from the Kyobo bldg will run about W5,000.  So don't miss this run!

Time: 1600, 01 May 2010
Location: Way Down South
Hare: Mr. Blister

This weeks romp will be Way Down South so we can gaze at some of the delights south of the Han. Mr. Blister has promised that be it a pimp or a John you will have a blast. As it has been said before Yeongdeungpo ain't no Kisaeng house.

D'erections

This weekend we will be meeting way down south in Yeongdeungpo . To get to the start point, purchase a subway card and make your way to Yeongdeungpo station on line 1. Leave the station via exit 1 and follow the markings to the park.

For those who are insistent on arriving by chariot, the station is located just south of the river off or HWY 46 (a quarter mile past the intersection with 88). There are several parking garages in the area where you may tie your horses. I would advise not attempting to park on the street unless you want a homeless guy to utilize it as a public bathroom. If these directions are bad, I apologize in advance, but those who decide to drive in this country do so at their own risk.

While this will be an urban trail, relatively free of shaggy and Blank Space traps, it will be wrought with peril, although mostly of the bacterial/virus type. It will also be a costume run and patches will be given to those who make an attempt at a pimp costume.  While scouting the trail I did see several local  ajoshis dressed in proper pimp attire so we should blend in fine.  I know everybody has at least one article of clothing that will fit this category, be it a fedora, a shirt with large colors (last worn in the 1970’s), or a cane.

It is time for another Seoul Brothers Piss Off. Scalded Squirrel is heading back to Dixie to serve out his time in the Yankee Army or maybe the remains of the Confederate Army we are still not sure, but I have heard his helicopter is named Stonewall Jackson, anyways let's send him off SHHH style. Squirrel has asked to join him for a goodbye dinner at the Fish market after circle.

Time: 3 April; 1600 hours

Hare: Scalded Squirrel esq.

Location: Noyrangjin Fish Market/station

Apres trail: Fish at the Fish Market

By public transport:

Go to the Noyrangjin station via line 1, exit (only one exit here) and cross the foot bridge going north. After you cross the footbridge, go right towards the parking building. The hares will lay arrows to the start point.

Alternatly, if you arrive at Noyrangjin station via line 9 (line 9 and line 1 stations do not connect, go figure), utalize exit 2, move east (towards the line 1 station) and go north over the footbridge. After you cross the footbridge, go right towards the parking building. The hares will lay arrows to the start point.

As for motor chariot, I am not sure. My google maps only come up in Hangul, but I am certain the Silve Grandeur can finds it's way to a Seoul Land Mark.

Seoul Men,

The time has come Former GM Timber Balls has arrived back in the land of the Morning Cum just ahead of the Florida authorities . This week we will take a romp through mammary lane as we lay one hell of a trail!

 Time: 1600 27 March 2010

Location : Near Chunghyo-sa  (See below Map)

Hares: Timber Balls and Victoria's Secret

The Hares’ shoe phones are 010-5541-0848 and ???

Seoul Brothers,

 READ ALL THE D'Erections

The big day his here...it is time to party Irish style in South Korea. This week we will have an Englishman and English wannabe banker setting trail in honor of the lovable Saint of the Irish. We will kick things off marching in the St. Pat's day parade that is rumored to be organized by our own Irish American EM.

Special St. Pat's day rugby shirts will be sold to Men for the low price of 50USD for paid Seoul Hashers and 60USD for all other vagabonds who want a shirt. We would like the men to where their shirts while on the march.

Parade: 1400 at the Cheongye Plaza where will march with our fellow Korean Hashers.

D'Erections

We will march in the St. Patty's Parade, Seoul 2010
Meet @ Cheongye Plaza..... Gwanghwamun Station, Subway Line 5, Exit 5
Meet up between 1-1:30pm. The parade starts around 2pm.

 Trail: \1600 20 March
Location: Yonsei University
Hares: White Trash and Blank Space Esq..

 D'erections

The run will start from the open air theatre inside the Yonsei University campus.

 Metro

Take line two (green line) to Sinchon station. Get out at exit three and follow the arrows – walk will take 15 minutes. For the lazy, catch the number three bus outside exit three. Travel three stops to Yonsei university and follow the arrows. From the Yonsei front gate to the start of the run is five minutes. There is a map just inside the university for those who have difficultly following the arrows.

Car

At the top of Gwanghwamun, turn left, in the direction of Shinchon. Go through the two tunnels, past Severance hospital and turn in to Yonsei University. Park at the end where the road divides.

Special Note:

You may wish to mention to hashers who will be on the march this Saturday ahead of our SHHH run, that they can entrain on the Green number two line at City Hall Station, which as luck would have it located very near the entrance to Chon Gae Chon, the area where the parade will be held.  Once in the train station, since the #2 line is a circular line, the hashers will have to make sure that they head for the platform that will enable them to embark upon a train that will take them to Shinchon station in just a few stops, as opposed to taking a train that would result in their completing most of the circular course in which case instead of a few minutes from City Hall station it might take them an hour or so to reach Shinchon station!

Run starts at 1600!!

Time: 13 March 2010 4 PM or 1600
Location: Grand Hyatt Hotel on Namsan
Hare: GM OB1

Those who do not know where the Hyatt is, ask your fellow hasher or me, OB1 at 010 8944 5729. As US Yankee Army will be involved in defending the peninsula, I hope non-military hashers can cum out and drink on behalf of Hashers in Uniforms' solemn duty.

See you at the run.

Time: 1600 4 PM 27 FEB 2010
Location: Wall of Whines
Hare: ____Space
Time: 1600 or 4 PM

Brother Hashers and Like-Half-minded Assholes,

We will meet at the top, at the Wall of Whines, at 4PM, on Saturday 9 JAN 10.  Directions for run as follows:

By Car:

0.      Study below map before arriving in downtown Seoul!

1.      At Gwanghwamun, and pass the US Embassy, zero your odometer and turn Right, and then move smartly to the left turn lanes.

2.      0.1K turn Left around the Pagoda (actually a wall guard tower) that is placed in the middle of traffic

3.      Turn right at the 1st set of lights and pass Jeongdok Library (see map) on your left.

4.      Continue up over and down a hill until you come to a 4-way intersection with flashing yellow lights.

5.      At the lights, turn left and proceed up the 4-lane street to the top of the hill.  (From this point, you will be following the Green bus route on the map.)

6.     At the top of the hill continue further up but upon crossing the intersection, you will be on a forested 2-land road snaking up the mountain.

7.     Continue past the back gate to Sungkyunkwan University and at about 2.8K park at the top near the "Wall of Whines" public park.

By Pubic Transportation:

1. Take subway to the ORANGE line's Anguk Station and go out exit 3.  >From there you have three options:

Option 1:  Take a taxi (fare should be about W2,000), say "Sung-gyun-gwan Dae-hak Hoo-moon Ahp."   That will take you to the entrance of the back gate of Sungkyungwan University.  From there, either direct the taxi driver to driver further up the hill for the last 200 meters -- or get out and walk up the hill along the main road.

Option 2:  Take a green ma-ul  small bus, ("Jongno 02," fare = W500) at Anguk Subway Station, and get off  BEFORE (see below map) Sungkyunkwan University's back gate and walk exactly 512 meters further up the hill.  Do NOT go into the university grounds if you can help it.  If the bus drops you inside of the campus, walk up the hill to the gate from which you arrived and take a right on to the main road that will take you up the hill to the OnOn site.

Option 3: Walk, skip or run a good 20 or so minutes up the hill and follow the directions from #A:

A. Take the road past the Constitution Court Building on your left, keep straight across all intersections and hike a good kilometer up the hill.

B. Pass the Saudi Arabian ambassador’s residence on your right.  200 meters further up you will find the side gate to Jungang High School; pass it and veer to the left and take an immediate right to continue straight up on to the narrow road leading up into the mountain.

(If you come to the National Audit building on your right or the Vietnamese Embassy on your left, you've gone too far and need to circle back and take the road that leads further up the mountain.)

D. Go at least a kilometer eventually passing a gate to Sungkyungwan University.  Keep on the road another 200 or so meters beyond the below Green bus route ends, and you will come to a park at the ridge line with the infamous Wall of Whines - locally referred to as the "Seong-bug" meaning North Fortress.

If the above directions defy your half-a-mind, learn to read a map or give the Hare a call on his shoe phone: 016-278-6362

Time: 20 FEB 10, 1500 or 3PM
Location: Dongnimmum
Hare: Victroria's Secret

This week the Men of SHHH will celebrate the US Congress getting off the drunk duffs and proposing the 21st amendment of the US Constitution that ended Prohibition in 1933.  We will therefor drink copious amounts of beer to ratify the amendment 77 years later.

Once again put everything on hold this Saturday (except for the HASH) and head for Dongnimmun Park for an on-time start at 3p.m

Directions:

For those committed to ensuring that there is not too much air in the pollution:

Head up Sejeong-Ro passing  the No. 1 and then the  No. 2 Embassies.

Zero your odo as you turn left at Kwang Hwa mun.

Pass through the Sajik (Small Tunnel)at 1.1km and the Kum Hwa Tunnel at 2.5kms (Bigger one),ignore the entrance to Yonsei at 4.2km but be alert for the right turn north at 5.0kms (right exit down an embankment) sign-posted towards first to Yonhi Jct. and then quickly to route 21 to Hongeun Jct..

Pass the Pizza Hut on your left and then the very expensive Seoul Foreign School on your right at 5.9kms . Pass under the Nambu expressway (The big road in the sky) by the SK garage at 6.9kms.

Continue on but then turn right at 7.1kms at the lights and look for the sign to Seodaemun Public Library.

Head back under the Nambu (Same big road up there)  and climb the hill to the lights at 7.8kms.

The on-on Site is in the small gardens on your left immediately opposite the magnificent Sung Won Aparts and just before the Go Un Elementary School.

Parking is available either just before the garden on the left or in the apartments but probably most easily in the next small road on the right An San O Rum Gil.

There may be some Live Haring in progress, i.e., maybe the hare won't get back in time, in which case head to the rear exit of the gardens and look for flour....

 For those travelling light:

Use the orange line to Honje Station and leave by exit 3.

Head south on the right-hand sidewalk(!) for about 200 meters, turn right at sign to Mae Rae Lea Gil and Seodaemun Library.  Keep walking for about 500mtrs to the elementary school on your right and you will see the small garden OnOn site.

This week we will commemorate the death of  Arthur Guinness (23 JAN 1803) by sipping some of his fine Irish brew and running some flat and shiggy free trail at the Seoul Arts Center. The directions look fine by me ,but if you are lost just call and we will guide you to the temple and OnOn site.

"From the Yankee Army Base" in Yongsan, head south over the Banpo bridge.  At the next major intersection (Express Bus Terminal) continue straight through the intersection (Being in the right lanes makes this easier).  In fact, keep going straight through all the intersections until you see the large Opera House of the Seoul Arts Center .  Get right and head up the hill following signs to HWY 92 to the OPERA HOUSE. (Do NOT go into the tunnel) At the T intersection at the top of the hill(HWY 92), take a left and immediately get right.  BEFORE you get to the walking overpass, turn right and continue up the hill towards the Temple .  You will pass a little park on your left, keep going as the road will get steeper… way up on the left is the ON ON.

Take the Orange line to the Nambu Bus terminal (341). From Itaewon Station it will take you about 32 minutes and cost about W1000.  Leaving Itaewon, head towards Yaksu Station (633/333) and transfer to the Orange Line.  Head towards Geuhmo (334) as the next station but continue on to the Nambu Bus Terminal Stop (341)  Once there, come out exit #4 and continue straight down the street towards HWY 92… about 300M.  Cross the street and take a right towards the walk over bridge you will see.   As you pass under the walking bridge, you will see a road heading up to your left, follow that road on up the hill to the ONON…it will be marked from there

200 meters further up you will find the side gate to Jungang High School; pass it and veer to the left and take a right on to the narrow road leading up into the mountain.

If the above directions defy your half-a-mind, learn to read a map or give the Hare a call on his shoe phone: 0161-9099-6195.

This week Blank Space will set trail and we will remember our brave Americans who were attacked at Pearl Harbor.

Date & Time: Saturday, Dec. 5, 3 PM

Location: Namtaeryeong at the Pagoda

Hare: Blank Space and

Mis-Directions are as follows:

Driving:
Point your 2/4/6- or 18-wheeled oil guzzling war propagation machine South from the Yongsan Army base over the Dongjak bridge.  Near the end of the bridge, get in the center of right lane.  Road will curve left as you exit the bridge.  At this point get in the far right to turn towards Sadang Station.  Continue straight until you pass Sadang Station (~3Km)  Head on straight up the hill past Namtaeryeong station and laugh at all the walkers.  Once over the hill, get in the right lanes.  As you approach the bottom of the hill, stay right as you do not want to go through the underpass.  At the top of the exit ramp thingy, make a U Turn and head right back up the hill you just came down.  About 100M from the top, there will be a dirt turn off to the right and a "pagoda"looking wooden tower.  This is the Start point.

For those Walking (or without conveyance):

Get on the subway and head to Sadang (Lines #4, blue and #2, green).  Pass through or change to Line #4, blue and OnOn to Namtaeryeong station.  Once you exit, you should start walking UPHILL on the LEFT Side of the street.  Once over the hill, about 100M down on your LEFT will be the aforementioned dirt turn off and "pagoda."  You are there.

If you get lost or want to bitch at someone call Blank Space @ 016-278-6362

Hare: EM Farty Breath
"Guy Fawkes Run"

It is that time of year again when EM Farty Breath Burns an effigy of Guido Fawkes of Gunpowder Plot fame, though we are a few weeks late, I am sure it will certainly be a fete to remember or forget depending on how much beer is consumed.

Happy Hashgiving to all the Seoul Brothers and families!

OnOn VIC SEC//HON SEC

                                        Greetings Brother Hasher(s)!!

CDG is On Out this week heading for sunny Florida and a life semi-retirement....Florida is a place where old people retire or so I have been told. Please cum out and send him off in SHHH style.

Location Hyochang Stadium//Yongsan Gu
Hare: CDG and Scaled Squirrel
Cost: Pay your dues or 10,000 KW
Apres Trail: CdG will prepare gourmet food trail-side

Directions:

Although we will meet at the grenade throwers statue to start the run, the on-on after the run will be at a nearby location so that we avoid any difficulties with locals of the patriotic persuasion who may object to our consumption of every hasher's favorite beverage in the proximity of locally hallowed ground....But note carefullly the directions below for an on time start from the usual spot:

By war chariot, motor conveyance, TICO, etc:

Head past the main gates of the Yankee Army base at Yongsan going west towards Samgakji intersection. At Samgakji intersection, proceed through (when the light is green and traffic in the opposite directions has stopped!) and drive up the overpass.  Proceed straight through the major intersection at the end of the overpass, and then go up an incline and down towards another intersection.  This is the Hyochang Park subway station intersection, and you will move into the right lane as you approach the intersection, and then execute a right turn.  Proceed up the street about 300 yards and hang a left into the stadium parking area and drive up to the area where the hare will be waiting for you near the grenade tosser's statue.....A superbly set run will await you!

By subway:

Take line #6 (the line that passes through Itaewon) to Hyochang Park Station.  Alighting at Hyochang Park station, exit using the northeastern or northwestern exit, and either one of these exits take you toward the Hyochang Stadium, about a 300 yard walk from the exits, and as you exit to the street level, just follow that part of the driving directions above that is applicable, noting that at about 100 yards from the station exits you will see a Korean primary school on your left, and continue walking past the school up to the stadium area.....and prepare yourself for a stellar run!

JM Blank___ Space  will set this weeks run near Yaksu-dong. This will NOT BE a GUY FAWKES trail as EM F-Breath is still jet setting the world this week. Blank___Space has promised nice views on a flat paved trail. As many Koreans make the long trip to Seoraksan this weekend JM Blank____Space has promised just as breathtaking views for a margin of the cost.

Location Yaksu Dong near Namsan Apartments

Hares: Blank____

Apres Trail: Bar Bless U  (see below map)

SHHH Run #2013

UN Day Run at OB1's Home

24 Oct '09 - 3:00 PM

Directions by motor vehicle: From Samgakji head west across the intersection and go up the elevated road and then down to the main intersection.  Continue straight through that intersection and continue up and down the hill directly ahead, and as you head downhill note Hyochang Park subway station at this corner, and turn left (legal left turn) here.  Then go to the next intersection, and do not take the sharp right or the left, but the middle option which leads you past the market area and then sharply uphill where there is a concrete barrier on both sides of the street.  At the top of this hill there is a left turn, and you take the turn and head down about 100 yards where OB1 will be waiting in keen anticipation.

By subway: Take line #6 and get out at Hyochang Park station. Exit through #3, and once you are out, turn around then follow the directions for driving from that point.  You can stroll from the station to OB1's on-on site in about 10 minutes.

 OB1's No. is 010-8944-5729.

Ultra-Man will be setting trail this week in celebration of Chew-Suck and October Fest. This trail is in VIRGIN terrain which is a rarity on many counts for the Men of SHHH.  So, If you are tired of your Yobo and her family still hates seeing a foreigner at the dinner table cum out and join chase and enjoy some great brew Rosen Brau brewery.

Date:  Saturday, October 3rd

Time: 1600

Hares: Ultra Man--Victoria's Secret

Location: JeongBalsan  (way out in West Seoul)

Cost: it a new quarter so pay your dues!!!!

Apres Trail: Rosen Brau--We plan to eat and drink after circle to celebrate OCT Fest.

Directions: Line 3 (Orange) Stop 312.

Tube: From Samgakji (line 6) to either Bulgwang or Yeonsinnae transfer to line 3 to Jeongbalsan (stop 312) exit 2 and look for markings to start.

Detailed Tube Misdirections:  Hashers can take line #6 at Samgakji station near the Yankee Army base northwest to where it intersects with #3 line at Yeonshinae station, and then head further on line #3 to Jeongbalsan station on line #3, but and this is an important BUT, not all trains that they board at Yonshinae will go all the way to Jeongbalsan station.  Some #3 line trains go only as far as Jichuk or Gupabal.  In that case hashers should get off the train at that station, and wait on the platform for a train that is going all the way to Daehwa, the last station on line #3.  Trains to Daehwa have that station listed on the front of the train and also the train drivers usually announce that the train is going to Daehwa or if not, then they will name another station as the last stop.  The point is to make sure to change to a train for Daehwa, and then to get off at Jeongbalsan station.

 * Note--Subway will take about 1 hour and 15 min*
