Cummittee Meeting
Minutes * Spouse and Significant Udder Dinner, Friday night dinner was suggested to be held at the Namsan Cable Car Restaurant (not the exact name but take the cable car to the restaurant - in case of confusion, the GM's shoe phone is 019-817-8378). The dinner will take place this coming Friday, May 2, from 7:00 PM. * GM Turnover will take place during the May 14 run. The GM will set the run from Ground Zero. Just have to find a good parking space near there. I'll also invite the GMs of the other area hashes to attend. Should be a good lead in to HATROK. The GM plans to grill burgers or something. *HATROCK is scheduled to start the week's romp around the Republic with the Seoul Hash on Wednesday night, May 21. We should try to invite like-minded groups to participate as the Seoul Gaels and other sports clubs (soccer, rugby, etc.) to participate in the runs. The GM will be sending out an invitation letter to the folks we'd like to see at the HATROK run, along with an RSVP address or two. * Contact phone number for visitors to use for pairing up for rides out to our run sites given the challenge of finding and navigating to run sites for those new to town - we plan to list on Hazukashi's or our (future) own web site and in the Hash Trash email. Until then, LeperCon will whip up some business cards with some Seoul Hash stuff with contact info. If we stick with a few email contacts, we can give out phone numbers to folks who get in touch. We can buy some heavier stock paper and make cards as needed to put at 3 Alley, MMT, The Loft and the Outback. We think we can get some quality folks on in the next few months. * Seoul Hash Anniversary Dinner to take place at the Embassy Club on Saturday, June 7th. Blank Space will be asked by the GM to make reservations, arrange catering, etc. * Family Run needed to be scheduled with preference given to any place that has a swimming pool - probably sometime in late June. |

Passing above a practice soccer pitch by the stadium's north face, we found an underpass that took us out to a riverside park with in-line skaters, bicyclists and joggers working themselves up and down the Han’s south riverbank. The weather was exceptional and the wind was not too cold so that the river sported several wind surfers. We noticed the more experienced windsurfers skimming across the top of the scum sporting additional appendages and growths from their torsos – no doubt Nature’s badges of honor for their prolonged exposures to the tantalizing toxins of the Han. Following a path just above the riverbank, we worked our ways westward and then at a stream’s mouth, we took a major left turn. There we spotted fishermen - one hauling in a sizable two-headed fish. Jockstrap was particularly impressed as one drunken fisherman landed a large fish, show it off to his admirers and then nearly loose balance upon casting his line again – forgetting to unhook the fish. Jockstrap’s conclusion: definitely time to move away from there pronto! The Trail took us along the stream and across a bridge where we saw the fire site again in the not too distant future. Again resisting to shortcut, we followed the Trail to the west bank of the stream and headed towards the Han. But before we could meet up once more with the Mother of All Toxins, the Trail suddenly climbed up a hill and then disappeared into a pedestrian tunnel decked out with some wacked-out murals. Coming out into sunlight once more we found ourselves in an urban area of parks and shops. Among the latter was a bona fide seng mekju-jip that beckoned ShiTonya and LeperCon to come on in and introduce STBN Kris on the venerable tradition of the beer check. That in fact is just what they did. Upon wiping the foam from their chops, the Final Three hounds bounded up a hill into a residential area that almost looked more like a nice community in Tokyo than Seoul. There they encountered a truly unique check – one quarter the way down a flight of steps and below a three-way intersection. No matter - two of the three ways eventually ended up on the same corner down below. From there it was up on to a main drag leading on to a freeway. Crossing the on ramp the hares found a path leading down a steep hillside and On In to the Circle site. There under the freeway overpass and next to a tourist bus, our hare awaited us with a fine spread of sandwich makings, a variety of fried chicken, soft drinks and, of course, BEER. The Circle Ammo, ever at the ready, provided the Hash Benediction at the behest of the GM. (EM ShiTonya, LeperCon, and STBN Kris were undoubtedly about this time finishing off their own suds at the beer check.) No matter, the Fire must go on and the Hare declared Ammo as the Wingee (again) with Blank Space placing a close second. In third was the GM. During the hounds' absence from camp, OB1 had appeared. In the absence of the Beer Checking hounds, Ammo made one of his sudden departures. So when the Final Three eventually showed up, the Circle was in full swing. Actually describing the momentum of the Circle as such was a bit of exaggeration since on more than a few occasions the hashers would take sixty-second Mammary Movement Viewing Breaks as there was a jogging trail only 20 meters away often filled with Young Lovelies working up a sweat while the drop-jawed hounds were inadvertently working up something else. In the bright glare of the sun’s reflection from the near-by stream, the hounds had to take care not to tip over the token paraffin candle representing the fire. However, with sunglasses at the ready, everyone was able to keep out of harm’s way. With just one more “winter run” to go on a Saturday, the hounds were becoming eager to switch over to the Wednesday evening summer schedule from May 7th. EM ShiTonya noted he had receive three phone calls from former Seoul hashers during the past week: Kimchi Marine had called in from the French isle to the south, Chejo-do (pronounced "She-shu-do"); former GM Over There had called in to announce his formal retirement effective May 2 with tentative plans of settling into Portland, OR; and Big Boy had called in from Kosovo to say that he may be visiting Seoul in early summer. In addition, it was noted that Prune Gas wished to be remembered at the fire. The EM went on to reflect that the following day would be the anniversary of the Battle of Imjin at Gloster Valley where so happened the Run 1066 took place. The SHHH had dignified the occasion with a patch designed in a ying-yang motif with the heralds of William the Conqueror and Harold in recognition that the run was set by none other than a fine English hasher, Porn Broker. A great patch but in true Seoul Hash half-a-mind manner, someone forgot to add the all-significant run number to the patch design. Jockstrap asked for permission to leave for his old stomping grounds, the Philippines, and permission was granted. OB1, LeperCon and STBN Kris earned their splashes after delivering jokes. The GM used the occasion to announce the Hash Spouses & Significant Udders Dinner would take place this coming Friday evening (see above "Cummitee Meeting Minutes" and keep an eye out for a separate email message for details). With housekeeping chores out of the way, the GM called OB1 to the front and suggested they play a trivia game as in "about this time of evening (actually still day), where do you wish to go?" Being the smart and experienced hound, OB1 scored full points by looking around and pointing Way Down South - and so it was with our hashers enthusiastically begain singing and gesturing away as startled rolling/cycling/jogging host country nationals passed by the Circle. The OnOn was the MMT with a prolonged pit stop at the 3 Alley Pub where Diamond Duke joined the Pack.
