Run 1600: December 15, 2001.

The Bus was on station but where was the GM. The pack gathered and grew, and built some more - still no GM. In come other hashers that were on the YKHHH with him this morning - but still no GM.

We eventually make the tough decision to pull out at 12:40 and lo and behold there comes the GM on the run....

Our wonderful bus driver commenced to show us all the twists and turns of Seoul as he takes us south of the Han River - with our direction being an eventual northeast. Eventually we managed to gain Hwy 3 and north we went. Marco Smegma had some technical difficulties but managed to subdue the pack when he finally, successfully, engaged the VCR.

Along the road to on start GM DODIC Master and EM ShiTonya meted out down-downs to our contingent. The bus was warm and the beer flowed cool.

At 3:00 we reached the run site, with our Hare Ammo only slightly anxious about our tardy arrival. He did have a few other car driving hashers to keep him company. The day was a brilliant sunny one, with Jack Frost intimating that the evening was going to be a good deal colder.

Hash Flash Face Plant lined up the all the mugs for shots that were taken of both front and drawers-dropped-back which started us off with the first official event photos.

GM DODIC Master then called upon EM Aston Martin to give the benediction. After which GM splashed last week's Wingee ShiTonya. Then invited Hare Ammo up to tell us about the trail. Ammo elected to have his splashing first and then told us that trail was set in chalk and secret paper, that there would be a runners / walkers split, an A/D split, and an A / A+ split. With the news that it took 1.5 hours to walk the A trail we were directed on out along the riverbank on a dirt road.

The TRAIL.

A long dirt road that took us to check one at the crossroads. On went straight across the road and up the hillside. The previously bunched pack started stringing out a bit as the climb continued. Through a bunker area and second check was a dogleg left.

Into leave-filled gully through the gap of a bunker and up to the ridge in the valley of thorns (ouch!).

Up. And at the top of a burial mound area another check took us again left. We continued along the ridge and up to more bunkers. Finally a right took us down. And down it was for quite the slip sliding way. Across a drainage ditch and to another check.

This time off to the right was on. Down a cement path to a road and the Runners / Walkers split. Runners went left and so did your Hon Sec but at a more leisurely jog. The next check appeared on a bridge and a confusing little stretch before finding trail left along the road.

This took us to the A / D split with D off to the left and A to the right. The fitter bastards headed right. So the tail of D follows....

D progressed along a dirt road up to a cement road where and an arrow directed us on right to the ridgeline and up. Through burial mounds (some of which were truly ancient) and up more hills. Left through a decomposing garden patch with its lovely barnyard scents.

Along a dirt road and past a puppy farm and a cabbage patch that looked like they were setting to make kimchi in the open connected to roots. Past an iced over pond (not tempted to skate), and into trail in the woods.

A waterspout marked the spot where A / A+ / and D all connected. A left arrow directed us up trail. And up, uP, UP it went. To ridgeline and along through bunkered hilltops and more climbing. Left a bit at one ridge and up some more (assisted by a strung out rope with sharp edges). As this hasher climbed others caught and overtook... A check had us on trail through stone walled bunkers and up to a Heli pad (oops that was false) - continue to the other side oh look... trail again... On On and down, down.

A final check went left down a gully to a ridge and down a steep bit into village streets. Along right and left through the village and to the On In.

The CIRCLE.

A cold and getting colder riverside was our home for the evening. Splashes were awarded, songs sung, jokes attempted, and camaraderie shared.

And through it all the Hash Flash flashed, till time to swing low and on on back to Seoul….
